Nina was born in São Paulo, Brazil and has lived on 4 continents. She speaks Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French and English. She loves all things dance and furniture & design. Nina has worked with Tinto Travels since its inception while operating the boutique hotel, Albergaria do Calvario until 2021. Her favorite city to live remains Lisbon, where she is currently based.
Peter was born in Pittsburgh and spent many years in Los Angeles. He worked in a variety of jobs and industries over the last 30 years. He founded Tinto Wine & Cheese in 2014 and Tinto Travels in 2017. His favorite city remains Venice and dreams of spending a month in Japan. He loves all things Peter Drucker and is a collector of art from David Korty.
Roger is the Pitmaster and owner of The District Pit BBQ Catering Company in Washington DC. Roger’s signature events pair BBQ and wines from local wineries in the DC Metro area. His desire to discover more about wine in other parts of the country and the world led to his involvement with Tinto Travels. His new passion for wine and worldwide travel have helped us push development to a new level.
Nélia was born in Portugal but grew up in Massachusetts from the age of 4 to 19. She returned to Portugal in 1990 and spent years missing cable tv and Twix peanut butter cups—until they finally arrived years later. She’s made a living in many areas, from cocktail waitress to finance manager to yoga teacher, always embracing life’s opportunities. Her greatest accomplishment is being a mother to an amazing teenager, whom she is raising in Sintra, the magical town Lord Byron once called a “glorious Eden.”
Andreia Sousa is an agricultural engineer with a specialty in cork and the ecosystem surrounding cork forests known as the “montado.” In addition to working on a large farm, Andreia has opened an interpretation center dedicated to cork and the montado. Andreia also recently was the producer of a documentary recalling the lives of women in rural Alentejo. Dedicated to her dog and a fan of music of all types, Andreia´s most recent extended trip was to Mozambique and she is based in Evora, Portugal.
A former Italian actor now turned contemporary artist, Marcello’s best known work was as the young love interest of Monica Bellucci in the film, Malena. Raised in Strasbourg to a Belgian mother and a father from Puglia, Marcello speaks fluent Italian, French and English. Marcello provides the joie de vivre that is so vital to a Tinto Travels tour.
